When Baldr was announced I was so happy that VNs in the west were starting to fully get back up from being a “niche thing which only has few works released” and the rapelay incident. But then I noticed that on twitter that we have people who think like him
...
I get that it is a shame there are no H scenes and I can relate with that line of thought in case of specific VNs, but saying that it is better to have no VN than have the VN without forced H scenes which were added to mark that checkbox, is something that not only scares Japanese companies from releasing game into the west, but also sends the message that doing all work is meaningless just because of there being no porn. We finally have chance to prove that we don’t need forced low quality H scenes in order for VN to sell. It is possible that +18 contents will be released later if it works out.
This is not the first time. People complained with Key VNs, works that were ether all ages from the very start or had very creepy H scenes (You could skip them, but the thing is that they were not “just” bad H scenes, they were uncomfortable). While I used to find those cases to be amusing, due to them begin posted in forums of the works that were all ages from the very start. But due the fact that if they are not famous works, those VNs tend to sell way worse than +18/cocktease Sakura-like VNs. The fact that people are flat out booing non +18 releases like Baldr, rather than just asking for 18+ version is just entitled and forgetting that there are people who don’t want those forced H scenes and that an all ages version would mean bringing in a more mainstream audience plus gaining the means to be spoken about in places that don’t allow most VNs due to H content. I only ask people to think about things before rushing in and just embarrassing us by saying “No H? Then please don’t bring this over”.
If you are worried that devs will start cutting out other kinds of content as well, then don’t buy it when that happens, write to the devs and inform the people on often visited websites that important content was cut. If you say that it’s nothing but “censorship” then remember that 90% of H scenes in VNs are simply just “otaku pandering” and bring nothing to either the plot or character development. Asking for +18 release version is fine, you have the right to ask about it. But please, don’t feel entitled to say that a VN should not be released at all, just because it lacks porn.
Edit: Fixed one grammatical mistake and clarified one sentience.

Edit_3: I learned my mistake with tl;dr, but it is too late to be deleted after this post was up for a whole day. However please don't dismiss this whole thread because of it.
